- Now that an American company has bought Amiga Tech, this has brought a few
- questions to mind. No, not if they are going to scrap AT or some other silly
- death wish.
-
- 1. Will VIScom direct AT to find a far cheaper place for manufacturing? I
- can't imagine VIScom making any type of profit on their setboxes if they have
- to pay upper end rates for manufacturing. Mexico and down through Central
- America and possibly Carrabean such as Haiti would be an ideal area to setup
- manufacturing since pay for workers is about $5.00 - 20.00 @ day. If we could
- get the Walker down to say $800, it would be a God Send!
-
- 2. Will NA now actually see a Walker being imported when Europe sees it being
- released? I want to buy one, real bad, but will I have wait a year for it to
- be released to NTSC standards?
-
- 3. Will the A1200 be finally snuffed with the release of the Walker and
- VIScom's setbox? Or can a cheap manufacturing site be found (as in my first
- question/observation) and treated like the old C-64 for the masses as a VERY
- cheap ($589, I think NOT!) price?
-
- 4. Will VIScom have the forsight to open talks with game platforms that could
- be emmulated on a Power version of the Amiga (Walker PPC or PowerAmiga)? Sony
- has claimed that they are making nothing (if not losing money) on a sale of
- their SPS but they are making up on the software sales. I wouldn't doubt that
- Sony wouldn't mind working with AT to make a SPScard for the Amiga. They
- always said the Amiga was a game machine, I wouldn't mind being that high up
- on the food chain right about now. :^)
-
- 5. A CHEAP setbox card for the Amiga? Why should we have to go buy one of
- those damn setboxes when we should be able to take advantage of our Amiga?
